Fletcher | 11 Months

Dear Fletcher,

We're almost to the end of your "monthly update" series.  Soon you will turn ONE.

I've been feeling nostalgic this month.  The change in the leaves will always remind me of your impending arrival and one of the happiest times in my life.  I noticed the trees on our street beginning to turn orange last week and felt a familiar flutter of anticipation as my mind wandered back in time.  I remembered how it felt to wait for you.  The little person inside of me was such a mystery.  Who would you be?  Would you be a boy or a girl?  The only thing I did not wonder about is how much I would love you.  There was never any doubt.

Now, nearly a year later, I can't imagine existing without your sweet, dimply, easy-going self.

The first year always goes by too fast.  It starts in a haze of newborn joy and exhaustion.  Then quickly turns into a whirlwind of milestones.  As we approach your first birthday I'm retracing my steps from last year in my memory...sonograms, packing the hospital bag, putting the finishing touches on your room, talking to you in my belly when your kicks kept me up late at night.  My special moments with you began before you were even born.

This month I watched you take your first few tentative steps so proudly.  You love to dance and "shake shake" and attempt to put your own shoes on.  You're constantly trying to repeat words and keep up with your brothers.  All four of your top teeth are poking through now too.  Lots of change and progress in such a short amount of time.  Your Daddy and I count our lucky stars for each day we get to watch you grow.

Until next month, my baby...

Dates with the Boys

Every few months we try to spend time with each of the boys individually.  These are our special outings with each of them from August/September...

Playing at the Park and Lunch with Fletcher
My baby loves to slide and swing.  So simple and sweet.

After the park we took him to Eggtc. for lunch.
Dada playing a little object permanence game with him :)

Farmer's Market & Cooking Class with Sullivan
For my guy who loves food, this was the perfect date.  We took a class at the KC Culinary Center and learned how to make guacamole, mini tostadas, tacos and tres leche's cupcakes.  We were stuffed by the time we left.

He also got to make a pinata filled with candy!
We stopped by the Farmer's Market to pick up some fresh fruits and veggies.  He was most excited about the orange grape tomatoes we found :)

King Tut Exhibit with Max
For my knowledge-loving little man we went to the King Tut exhibit at Union Station.  He had been begging me to take him and kept a flyer about it in his room for over a month.  I thought he'd be bored and we tried to throw out other ideas, but he insisted it's what he really wanted to do.  So we agreed, but didn't expect him to make it too far.  We were completely wrong!  He was a little sponge and wanted to listen to the facts about each and every item.  They had a kids version of the audio which described each artifact in more kid-friendly terms. We literally had to drag him out of the exhibit.
Fun in the gift shop :)

Dear boys,
These dates are so special to your Dad and me.  You're each so different and wonderful in your own way.  We cherish this time we have to focus on only you.

My whole heart,
Momma
